Doris Goldschmidt arrested in Amsterdam
Doris Goldschmidt was a cousin of Peter van Pels. She was arrested on the street in Amsterdam and imprisoned in Westerbork two weeks later. Shortly afterwards she was deported to Auschwitz.
Doris Goldschmidt had gone into hiding with her parents. An SD officer of the Zentralstelle für Judische Auswanderung apprehended her around two o'clock in the afternoon of 13 August 1943 as a "Jew in hiding" and brought her to the police station on Stadionweg. The next morning at a quarter past nine, the same SD officer picked her up again.[1]
On 26 August 1943 she was put in prison barrack 67 in Westerbork. Five days later she was deported to Auschwitz with more than a thousand others.[2] According to the date of death, she was one of those who were killed immediately upon arrival.[3]
