Veda, Akademisch-wissenschaftlichen Verbindung
Veda was a student fraternity of which Fritz Pfeffer was a member.
Founded on 10 May 1896, Veda was one of the student fraternities born out of liberal-nationalist ideals in Germany.[1] The only one of its kind, Veda from Wurzbürg was open to everyone, including Jews.[2] From 1918, the fraternity was entirely Jewish. By 1920, Veda had some 230 members and had its own building. On 30 June 1933, this building was abolished by order of the Kultusministerium and occupied by the SA.
The distinctive colours of the sash were white-red-light green and the fraternity's motto was 'Veritati'. The organisation propagated the 'scientific principle' and was further characterised by intensive sports practice.
Fritz Pfeffer, during his student years in Würzburg, was a member of Veda. A photograph has survived showing Pfeffer in the corresponding uniform with cap, boots, sash and sword.[3]
