Leisure activities, Auguste van Pels
Auguste van Pels was a good cook and enjoyed reading biographies.
Not much is known about Auguste van Pels-Röttgen's hobbies and leisure activities. Anne Frank's diary does show that Auguste van Pels could cook well.[1] Miep Gies also said something about this. According to her, Auguste van Pels was very neat, a first-class housewife and a good cook.[2] Auguste usually made the shopping lists because she was the one who cooked.[3]
Anne mentions in her diary that Auguste learned English in written courses and that she enjoyed reading biographies and also some novels.[4]
