Johan Voskuijl - work at Voss & Sasse
Johan Voskuijl worked for Voss & Sasse.
The furniture firm Voss & Sasse originated in a wooded region of Lower Saxony where furniture making was traditionally important.[1] The factory, which sold its products under the brand name Casala, established a representative office in Amsterdam around 1930. Headed by B.J. van Zwieten, it was located at Nieuwe Uilenburgerstraat 20-26 in 1932.[2] At this address, Johan Voskuijl received a congratulatory letter dated 11 July 1932 from director Carl Sasse from Lauenau. Voskuijl had become the father of twins Gerda and Dina on 2 July 1932, and Sasse congratulated him.[3] It can be inferred from this letter that Voskuijl was working at Voss & Sasse in 1932.
In 1938, the firm 'Voss & Sasse (Meubelgroothandel v/h.)' had the address Brouwersgracht 156.[4] Johan Voskuijl was then still listed in the Population Register as 'office clerk (furniture)'.[5] The archive card from 1939 listed the same occupation.[6] Further details are lacking.
