Doris Goldschmidt
Doris Goldschmidt was a first cousin of Peter van Pels.
Doris Goldschmidt was the daughter of Max Goldschmidt and Margaretha Goldschmidt-Röttgen and a cousin of Peter van Pels. In Wuppertal, she attended the Volksschule in Trooststrasse/Schlieperstrasse, but had to leave in 1934.[1] In 1938 she came to Amsterdam with her parents and brother, where part of her family already lived.[2]
An SD officer from the Zentralstelle für Judische Auswanderung arrested her around two o'clock on the afternoon of 31 August 1943 as a 'Jew in hiding' on the Stadionweg and took her to the police station on that street. The next morning at a quarter past nine, the same SD offcier picked her up again.[3]
She spent four days in penal hut 67 in Camp Westerbork and was then deported to Auschwitz-Birkenau on 31 August 1943, where she was killed shortly after arrival on or around 2 September 1943.
