Henk van Beusekom
Henk van Beusekom worked for Otto Frank and Opekta for several years.
Henk van Beusekom was born on 14 June 1919 as the son of Jan Hendrik Gerrit van Beusekom (16 July 1883) and Gesina Hendrika Westerhof (5 June 1891). He had an older sister Gesina Wilhelmina Maria van Beusekom (21 March 1913).[1]
Henk was employed by Otto Frank on 16 October 1933 as the youngest office clerk.[2] Untill 7 January 1938 he worked at the Nederlandsche Opekta Maatschappij. He was let go due to unfavourable economic conditions.[3] He then worked at the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Cantonal Court.[2]
On 8 March 1944, Anne wrote that Mrs Van Pels asked Bep why she had not married Henk and advised her to wait until he was divorced again. Henk van Beusekom married Aagje Pronk on 9 March 1944.[4] The marriage was dissolved in 1949; he married Hermina Berendina Derks on 5 September 1953.[5] She died on 8 June 2008 at the age of 86.
Van Beusekom said in 1994 that Bep Voskuijl was in love with him at the time. However, it was not mutual.[2] This is in line with Mrs Van Pels' remarks to Bep at the time of Henk's first wedding.[6]
