Philip Cohensius
Philip Cohensius was the caretaker of the Jewish Lyceum.
Philip Cohensius was the caretaker of the Jewish Lyceum.[1] Before that he was a painter for Public Works.[2] Although details are sketchy, it is highly likely that he was fired by the council due to his Jewish descent. Afterwards he became "caretaker J Lyceum".[2] He maintained the preserved Absentenboek (Absentee book) from 1942.[3] Among former pupils, opinions about him were divided: one described him as a "gentleman",[4] another as "really nasty".[5]
Source personal data.[2] Address: Da Costakade 33-II, Amsterdam (changed in August '42 to Goeverneurkade).[2]
