Herman Wilhelm Buntenbach

Herman Buntenbach was a brother of Laua Maria, Victor Kugler's first wife.

Herman Wilhelm Buntenbach was a brother of Laua Maria, the first wife of Victor Kugler. His father Gustav was not around when he was born, as he was staying at an unknown location in the Netherlands at the time with his caravan and fairground attraction. On 18 December 1924 he married Nieske Steensma in Oostdongeradeel. His profession was cinema operator.[1] At the end of 1925, their daughter Beitske was born in Holwerd.[2] Laura followed on 9 January 1935.[3]

In 1929 he established himself as a tobacconist in Dokkum.[4] In that town he was, among other things, chairman of Dockum Football Club,[5] board member of Dokkum ice skating club[6] and co-founder of a gymnastics club.[7]

From 1936, he travelled around the country with a fairground attraction ('derbyrennen' - Derby Racing).[8]

After the occupation, he was accused of screening propaganda films. He was also alleged to have been a member of the NSB, the NSDAP and the NAF.[9] For this he was given a sentence of community service: to provide ten free film screenings for the 1940-1945 Foundation. He was also disqualified from voting for ten years.[10] Herman Wilhelm Buntenbach took his own life.[11]
