Saracoğlu, Şükrü

Şükrü Saracoğlu was the sixth prime minister of Turkey.

Saracoğlu studied in Belgium and Switzerland, among other countries, and he became a member of the Turkish parliament in 1923. He was prime minister from July 1942 to August 1946.[1] In his speech on 17 March 1943, he referred explicitly to “English-Turkish friendship”.[2] This lead to the misunderstanding by those in the Secret Annex that Turkey was siding with the Allies. According to Anne, that thought was widely shared.[3]
