Irma Auerbach was the mother of Fritz Pfeffer's first wife.

Irma Auerbach was the mother of Vera Bythiner, Fritz Pfeffer's first wife, and grandmother of Werner Pfeffer. She was married to Joseph Bythiner.[1] In September 1936, they arrived in Amsterdam via Milan.[1] At the time, the Amsterdam Aliens Police registered two men and a woman as Dantziger.[2]  These three people must have been the Bythiner couple and their son Klaus Franz Joachim (1916). From 1918 until the invasion of Poland in September 1939, the city of Danzig (Gdansk) was under the administration of the League of Nations and therefore did not belong to Germany or Poland. Residents of the city therefore had a separate status.

In December 1937, Klaus emigrated to New York.[3] Daughter Vera arrived in November 1938 and lived with them at first. Later she moved to Roompotstraat. In 1941 and 1942, Vera Bythiner lived at two other addresses in Amsterdam, before she was officially signed out on 24 August 1942 for 'having left for Germany'.[4] She had been deported from Westerbork on 15 July 1942 to Auschwitz, where she was murdered on 30 September 1942.[5] Her parents ended up in Westerbork on 6 April 1943. From there they were deported on 4 May 1943 to death camp Sobibor, weher they wer killed immediately upon arrival on 7 May 1943.[6]
