    "content": "<p>Gerdina (Dien) Gendering was registered at the home of Jan and Miep Gies in <strong>1942</strong>.&nbsp;She was a younger half sister of Clara Ehbrecht. Gerdina came into the world in the Wilhelmina Gasthuis hospital.<sup data-footnote-id=\"99ptj\"><a href=\"#footnote-1\" id=\"footnote-marker-1-1\" rel=\"footnote\">[1]</a></sup>&nbsp;Her mother recognised her on <strong>12 May </strong><strong>1916</strong>.<sup data-footnote-id=\"qo3wv\"><a href=\"#footnote-2\" id=\"footnote-marker-2-1\" rel=\"footnote\">[2]</a></sup>&nbsp;After Clara&#39;s birth she divorced her husband.</p>\r\n\r\n<p>Between the ages of seven and twenty-one she lived in the Jewish children&#39;s home Berg Foundation in Laren.<sup data-footnote-id=\"03b0b\"><a href=\"#footnote-3\" id=\"footnote-marker-3-1\" rel=\"footnote\">[3]</a></sup>&nbsp;Then, from <strong>15 April 1937</strong> to <strong>1 November 1939</strong>, she went to work as a domestic help (&#39;kitchen maid&#39;) in the Israelite boys&#39; orphanage &#39;Megadl&eacute; Jethomim&#39; on Amstel.<sup data-footnote-id=\"xo1i5\"><a href=\"#footnote-4\" id=\"footnote-marker-4-1\" rel=\"footnote\">[4]</a></sup></p>\r\n\r\n<p>From <strong>1 March </strong>to <strong>1 October 1941</strong>, she was employed by a Jewish family in Rotterdam.
