    "content": "<p>Joseph Bythiner was the father of Vera Henriette Bythiner, the first wife of Fritz Pfeffer, and grandfather of Werner Pfeffer. According to an entry in the Amsterdam Register of Births, Deaths, and Marriages, he was a &#39;Danziger&#39;.<sup data-footnote-id=\"ir08z\"><a href=\"#footnote-1\" id=\"footnote-marker-1-1\" rel=\"footnote\">[1]</a></sup>&nbsp;From <strong>1918 </strong>until the invasion of Poland in <strong>September 1939</strong>, the city of Danzig (Gdansk) was under the administration of the League of Nations and therefore did not belong to Germany or Poland. Residents of the city therefore had a separate status.</p>\r\n\r\n<p>In <strong>1936 </strong>the Amsterdam Aliens Police registered two men and a woman as &#39;Danziger&#39;.
