Katowice

Otto Frank travelled from Auschwitz to Katowice on 5 March 1945. He stayed there until 1 April.

Katowice is the capital city of Silesia in southern Poland. After the German invasion in 1939, this part of Poland was annexed by Germany and the new province was henceforth called Gau Oberschlesien. In January 1945 the city was captured by the Red Army and returned to Poland.[1] After the liberation of Auschwitz, Katowice became a relief center for survivors from the camps.[2]
