Hermann van Pels loved making sausages.

Not much is known about hobbies or leisure activities of Hermann van Pels. Anne describes in her diary how Hermann van Pels made bratwurst, Gelderlander sausage and metworst sausage.[1] In her Fables and Short Stories, she covers this topic in Sausage Day.[2]

Hermann van Pels' habit of smoking also comes up repeatedly in the diary.
