    "content": "<p>Seamstress<sup data-footnote-id=\"fyd26\"><a href=\"#footnote-1\" id=\"footnote-marker-1-1\" rel=\"footnote\">[1]</a></sup> Ruth Hanna Weisz-Neumann married Martin Nochem in Berlin in&nbsp;<strong>1934</strong>. The couple divorced in&nbsp;<strong>1939</strong>. On <strong>24 April 1940</strong> she married Richard Weisz in Amsterdam.<sup data-footnote-id=\"fyd26\"><a href=\"#footnote-1\" id=\"footnote-marker-1-2\" rel=\"footnote\">[1]</a></sup> Later on, the couple were taken into hiding by the Van Hoeve couple (the veg and potato man who delivered produce to those looking after the people in the Secret Annex). On <strong>25 May 1944</strong> she and her husband <sup data-footnote-id=\"1sj5h\"><a href=\"#footnote-2\" id=\"footnote-marker-2-1\" rel=\"footnote\">[2]</a></sup> were arrested by the SD officers Pieter Schaap, Klaas Nap, Douwe Capelle and policeman Koning, after being betrayed.<sup data-footnote-id=\"e8aot\"><a href=\"#footnote-3\" id=\"footnote-marker-3-1\" rel=\"footnote\">[3]</a></sup> According to Van Hoeve&#39;s statement, the SD was informed by an anonymous letter.<sup data-footnote-id=\"vltiq\"><a href=\"#footnote-4\" id=\"footnote-marker-4-1\" rel=\"footnote\">[4]</a></sup></p>\r\n\r\n<p>After their arrest, the Weisz couple were transferred for interrogation to the SD in Euterpestraat and not long afterwards transported to Westerbork. As arrested people in hiding, they were regarded as prisoners&nbsp;and locked up in Penal Barrack 67. On <strong>3 September 1944</strong>&nbsp;Ruth and her husband were sent from Westerbork to Auschwitz, where they arrived on 5 September.<sup data-footnote-id=\"ygav6\"><a href=\"#footnote-5\" id=\"footnote-marker-5-1\" rel=\"footnote\">[5]</a></sup>&nbsp;After that, they were separated. On&nbsp;<strong>28 October,</strong> Richard Weisz was sent&nbsp;to<strong>&nbsp;</strong>concentration camp Stutthof in occupied Poland, and then on to the all-men&rsquo;s camp Hailfingen&nbsp;in Baden-W&uuml;rttemberg, Southern Germany, in <strong>November 1944, </strong>where he died on <strong>7 January 1945</strong>. On <strong>28 February&nbsp;1945</strong>, Ruth was deported to concentration&nbsp;camp Flossenb&uuml;rg in Bavaria.
