"description": "Anne Frank gaat tussen 1935 en 1941 naar de Zesde Montessorischool aan de Niersstraat 43 in Amsterdam. Wegens de anti-joodse maatregelen van de bezetter dienen schooldirecties een lijst met Joodse leerlingen samen te stellen. Deze kinderen worden verplicht om onderwijs te volgen op een school met alleen Joodse leerlingen. Als gevolg van dit besluit gaan Anne en Margot Frank in 1941 naar het Joods Lyceum in Amsterdam, totdat zij vanwege de onderduik in het Achterhuis in 1942 geen regulier onderwijs meer kunnen volgen. Deze foto is afkomstig uit een album dat is verzameld door het hoofd van de Zesde Montessorischool in Amsterdam, H.A.M. Kuperus-De Rooy. Zij was lerares van Anne Frank in de zesde klas. Het album bevat foto's van onder meer schoolreisjes, sportdagen, klassenfoto's, toneelopvoeringen en van de naamgeving van de Zesde Montessorischool naar de Anne Frank School op 12 juni 1957. Bij die gelegenheid zijn onder meer Johannes Kleiman en Miep Gies aanwezig. Ter nagedachtenis van Anne Frank draagt de Zesde Montessorischool vanaf 12 juni 1957 haar naam.",

"content": "<p>Hendrika (Rika) Kuperus was the head teacher of the Sixth Montessori School. Anne Frank was in her class in <strong>1940-1941</strong>.</p>\r\n\r\n<p>On <strong>5 November 1925 </strong>in Amsterdam, she married Sjoerd Kuperus, who died on <strong>4 July 1988</strong>.<sup data-footnote-id=\"m3u8c\"><a href=\"#footnote-1\" id=\"footnote-marker-1-1\" rel=\"footnote\">[1]</a></sup> From <strong>1926</strong> on she worked at the First Montessori School in Amsterdam.<sup data-footnote-id=\"wh2k8\"><a href=\"#footnote-2\" id=\"footnote-marker-2-1\" rel=\"footnote\">[2]</a></sup> Out of three teachers from this school, the municipality chose her in <strong>1934 </strong>to be the principal of the newly formed Sixth Montessori School. The fact that she had been passed over for an earlier nomination and that she was the breadwinner of her family weighed in the balance.<sup data-footnote-id=\"ntn6i\"><a href=\"#footnote-3\" id=\"footnote-marker-3-1\" rel=\"footnote\">[3]</a></sup></p>\r\n\r\n<p>Anne wrote that she was in class 6C with Mrs Kuperus.<sup data-footnote-id=\"ns2ry\"><a href=\"#footnote-4\" id=\"footnote-marker-4-1\" rel=\"footnote\">[4]</a></sup> According to the school's Parents' Fund administration, Anne was in class 6A in school year <strong>1940-1941</strong>.<sup data-footnote-id=\"708xm\"><a href=\"#footnote-5\" id=\"footnote-marker-5-1\" rel=\"footnote\">[5]</a></sup> Otto Frank gave Kuperus the diary to read as early as the beginning of <strong>1946</strong>.<sup data-footnote-id=\"jtzx4\"><a href=\"#footnote-6\" id=\"footnote-marker-6-1\" rel=\"footnote\">[6]</a></sup> He sent her a copy of The Secret Annex in <strong>1947</strong>.
